you can do this and get the div
buy CFD's on the 4th
sell CFD's on the 5th
by doings this you do not get the tax credits BUT you get paid on the 5th the DIV amount
many will buy the shares this week and hope to get a CAP GAIN equal (or more) to the DIV and sell before the EX-div date. simply called a "Dividend yeild play"
others might by the CFD and use the DIV as a interest payment hoping for a cap gain later. The dividend will pay around 4 months of interest if you "hold" the share on margin
you can do this and get the divbuy CFD's on the 4thsell CFD's on...
