I dont think the Gold Coast de- sal plant was built just on the recommendation of Tim Flannery.Seeing the Sydney and Melbourne plants working flat out now in this drought makes one recognize the prescience of having them on standby elsewhere, certainly better than a Capetown situation.Given the population growth rates and climate extremes we are witnessing i reckon many of Flanneries predictions from the Future Eaters are occurring.It is easy for deniers of anthropogenic climate change to use Flannery as their whipping boy. To my reckoning he is far more than a "pop environmentalist".As a renowned mammologist, paleontologist, explorer, climatologist and author as well as Australian Of The Year, he will be remembered in posterity long after the pathetic little deniers on H.C have spluttered into nothingness.
