The left too often shrug their shoulders and wash their hands, Judas like.
When the west invaded Iraq and when it invaded Afghanistan, we had two options:
1. remove Saddam/the Taliban, or
2. stand by, twiddle our thumbs and watch the slaughter.
Both difficult choices. The west chose the former in both cases. Both sets of tyrants were removed but let's not pretend without a high price.
The left side of politics opposed both invasions. Whilst they opposed Option 1 in each case, the Greens and Labor left never took ownership of the only other option. They never acknowledged that to sit on our hands meant more genocide by Saddam, more unspeakable oppression by the Taliban. They wanted to do a Pontius Pilate. Milne has done it again now over her opposition to our intervention to take out ISIS.
It is disgraceful hypocrisy that they condemn a solution but won't take responsibility for the only alternative - in this case, more genocide.
Fortunately, most Australians have a Judeo-Christian notion of right and wrong; they realise that evil must be confronted and defeated.
Sitting at the bottom of the garden with the faeries chanting "OMMM" is not an option in the real world - only in the fantasy world of the left.
