    Hi Stan. Residual enrichment of nickel and other metals often occurs in areas of tropical weathering in shallow regolith over ultramafics. Read about nickel laterites, they make up the bulk of nickel deposits worlwide but are not generally as high grade as sulphide deposits. Maybe laterite does not make sense in your example though. Hard to say without more info.
