it seems that the PUP may have to prove that it has 500 members in QLD - the following from the AUSTRALIAN

One former member received an unsolicited email from the party’s executive committee late on Wednesday advising that he had until the close of business yesterday to object or his name would be automatically included as a current member.

“The party executive has reviewed the memberships for the party and have decided that any membership of a person residing in Queensland be renewed by resolution of the party executive,’’ it read. “Any outstanding membership fee is waived.

it seems that former members have had their memberships reinstated.

watso is not too sure what this is about - because maybe PUP membership numbers were not an issue at the last QLD election - as PUP had not been formed.  somewhere along the way, PUP in qld got a couple of MP's, who came from the libs - but now they have left - and if PUP want to run in the next QLD election, they have to prove that they have 500 members.  maybe if they still had the former lib members as MP's then the numbers may not have been as important
