    Hi Milo ,

    Good on you for taking an interest in the young blokes future.

    I'm not sure if there is a legal way to do it .

    I reckon he might be better saving for his own place . $100 isn't a bad deal for rent . I imagine that would enable him to save a deposit .

    Reasons.

    The Ex might live for a long time and eventually the young fella might want his own place before the Ex is gone , especially if he partners up .

    Makes it simpler between him and his brother when the time comes - they would simply have half each .

    I recommend against family members ( or friends ) doing any kind of deal that involves money . Circumstances change over time and money can come between friends/family .

    Best to avoid it from the outset imo.
