Preparations are under way to drill the South Grosse Tete prospect in Iberville Parish, Louisiana. This prospect is situated to the northwest of the Bayou Choctaw salt dome, and is controlled by two major radial faults extending to the northwest from the dome. Up to 800 acres of structural closure have been demonstrated at Nodosaria level at 13,500-14,500’. Strong 3D seismic amplitude anomalies are present on the feature at this level, which have potential for 35-70 billion cubic feet of gas. A deeper 1700 acre closure is present at Wilcox level at 16,500’-17,500’. While the reserve potential of the Wilcox play is huge, at 300-500 billion cubic feet, the risks associated with this play are also high, given the lack of well control. The Schwing #2 well will initially be targeted at the Bol Mex formation at 12,000’, and the Nodosaria formation down to a depth of 14,500’, but is being engineered for subsequent deepening to 18,000 feet. This is being done in two stages, the first of which, down to a depth of 14,500’, will be conducted in the last quarter of calendar year 2007. The initial well will target 5-20 BCF of the feature.
300-500 billion feet of pay...yep that would pay.
