The only time you really want a consolidation is when the company has just started to substantially increase earnings, otherwise it's seen as rearranging the furniture, or when you're about to list on the US bourse somewhere, as they typically consider any stock under $1 to be a penny-ante offering, and wont list on places like the NYSE.
