The sharp spike in volume would be more indicative of "sheer panic", as Wanelad puts it..........more a shake-out move as such imho.
If the larger players wanted out we would be more likely to witness a series of relatively higher volume days, as would be expected in a distribution pattern at the top of the cycle, rather than an aggressive sell down which would throw the potential buyers off the wave ....afterall that means that the sellers end up selling their gold at ultimately lower levels.
But, perhaps the game has entered a new level of volatility.
