    Is there anything actually illegal about buying shares in a company you are about to offer finance to, knowing your offer will make the price go up?

    I dont actually think there is.

    Morally maybe, but not legally.

    Its not insider trading - if Gary bought shares knowing he was negotiating finance that would be insider trading.

    But he didnt as far as Im aware, and I dont see any legal issues for Roland/Super Alliance buying shares in PDY pre-deal.
