Play2win, i have the same problem at beaches i go to however i have a different approach due to indifferent & self absorbed dog owners, i have a 3 yrd old & regardless of dog if it starts to come over it gets rocks, sand or my surfbaord thrown at it & as a back up a nice piece of driftwood tends to keep it out of my space, yes people get upset, who cares control your mutt & than there is no problem, My problem becomes their problem

Tangrams"People with dogs should respect other's rights to enjoy the park too."
EXACTLY, will add it does not matter what the breed the most agrresive dog i have ever seen was a LAbrador plus the 3 times i have been bitten was from small dogs unprovoked. Hence my reaction in the company of my kid. Also i have always had dogs but they never impact on anyone else, sadly people think their dog is some animal we all want to interract with and sadly the cases of normal friendly dogs attacking familiy members over the years highlights the indifference people have

Free will "1. ask them nicely to get rid of their dogs or tie them up, depending on the rules at the park "

Good luck with that, got bored with that approach long ago & the response of he's friendly etc etc just wasted more of my time, they just never seem to get that i am not interested in your dog near me or my family

."2. Call the council ranger" police response times in my area can take 1 hour for serious crimes, i dont think the ranger will appear to sort it out

    the best defence is attack

While we are on the subject anyone know how to make a cattle prod from a 9 volt battery that would solve heaps of problems
Or if my approach is a bit extreme for you blend chillies in water heat briefly strain insert into water pistol, the owners wont know what the problem is as they are usually not even aware of what their dog is doing
    Problem solved
