When I went fruit picking sultana grapes and oranges around Mildura, most half decent properties had what they called "picker's huts" and that's where we stayed for free. They were small houses basically with a kitchen, living room and a couple of bedrooms with an outside loo, shower and laundry.
If you WANT to work there is nothing stopping you...I for the life of me cannot remember how much I was earning...being it was around 38 years ago $100.00 a day would have been good earnings...either way I remember the dollars were pretty good given the brain dead work it was...
Problem is kids these days want their own room with TV, hot and cold running water and a mum to do their washing...
