Not all companies face the same circumstances so comparing share price movements like this is ridiculous
Qantas carries 64% of all domestic traffic in Australia, and moves more people in and out of the country than any other airline, ie. it almost has a monopoly, so yes, it is very different to other airlines that have to compete with one another. It has a great advantage over just about every other international airline.
A very well respected broker letter says that the dramatic recovery of the three main American airlines is one of the reasons for the interest in Qantas recovery. So I thought that comparisons were relevant. Silly me, I won't bother anyone with ridiculous comparisons anymore.
Air New Zealand had to be bailed out by Government and re-floated..
Air New Zealand, government owned, and then partly floated = success story.
Qantas, government owned and then floated = massive loss.
