I'd have to agree with that statement. I think the near term future for Qantas looks grim.
Firstly consumer sentiment is not looking good, with the AUD falling it's a double edged sword - lower fuel prices, but also a slight disincentive for overseas travel. Also with interest rates looking to rise in the next 6 - 18 months, disposable income will take a hit.
Secondly, domestic travel is waning, and Qantas looks like it may be losing market share, at best keeping its hold of the market flat.
Thirdly, the Ebola outbreak is yet to really affect airlines, however given the fact that the world seems to be losing the battle, in my opinion this has the potential to really spook investors, and cause a sell-off in airline stocks.
The only real positive is the short term dip in oil prices, and even that may not be sustained for too long. I think Qantas at these prices does not look like a healthy buy, if anything a sell might seem like a wise investment.
