I think monsanto would be responsible for most of the increase in the worlds grain crop in the last 20 years, and with it a reduction in soil erosion as farmers have left the plough in the shed. Roundup has been the reason for the last big food production increase, and now the increases can't keep up to demand.
Probably a great thing for the environment too. Imagine how much more land would be needed without roundup increasing farmers production like it has.
