I would guess bigger institutions would be happier with a producer handling this project as opposed to an exploration company. Experience is everything and so are contacts within the industry.
SFR have farm-ins with other explorers so not a total loss going forward. Especially if they give the MOD tenements the funding it deserves to fully realise its potential.
May find in a few years, SFR with cash to turn a drill bit, will hit something decent.
