In fairness if you had bought any stock around that time you'd be sitting on a decent paper loss. Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that the wider market is in meltdown. The indices are masking the pain but many blue chips are off ~50% from their highs, let alone the speccy end.
I think a lot of people are mistaking stock specific risk with systematic risk. A decent chunk of this sell off is being driven by the panic in wider markets, not SPN specifically.
