Revelation, if it truely has a specific, symbolic meaning has its meaning sealed. It is a sealed book, only to be opened by a figure returning who is like Jesus. JWs have a go because they invented invisible Jesus, thus for them they claim the book is open. This gives them a self-bequeathed authority to make of it what they will via their GB, who as we all know are G.d's authority on earth and thus speak and rule for G.d, in Jesus stead, while He takes a holiday. Not only that but they managed to get 144,000 of their kind into heaven to rule.
Now every man and his dog has had a go at Revelation because nobody can contradict them and it's a sign that you are deep and special and Jesus wants you for a sunbeam, when you make up your own special story of Revelation and share it. The up side is that anybody you hate becomes a dragon, a whore, or some other beast and you can do this with impunity because you are on a mission from G.d.
No two talking heads come to the same conclusion when translating the meaning of a book that is beyond mortal man. They all look so sincere, good eye contact, steady gaze and away they go with sage words.
The book is sealed and only a returned Jesus or a similar being can interpret it, so the story goes. If any work has produced more nonsense than Revelation, I'd like to know what it is. It has produced countless horror movies, books, TV shows thrillers and religious insanity. Everything in Revelation has come to pass, no prophecy is going to tick-over for 2000 years unfulfilled. If the prophecies have some basis in reality then the effects and processes rolling out from these prophecies will play out for centuries to come, but the prophecies themselves are done deals.
Probably Revelations only challenger would be the Quatrains of Nostradamus. Both produce a special kind of expert without expertise.
