you might be confusing the role of an independent director with that of the CEO or management.
independent directors are NOT supposed to be hard working, or run the company day to day, they just provide oversight at a board level. You may not think the company
board needs independence, but ASX/Nasdaq best practice says otherwise.
BUT, let's be very clear it is a contentious issues been argued by many. Here is an article from 2013( pree weebit) discussing exactly the same point... so you're not alone.intersting point, classing him as.a.founder would be a good exception.
