Yes I appreciate your point of view. But I can tell you I was an absolute dropkick in terms of thinking ahead too when I was young and I suspect that hasn't changed much from generation to generation.
What has changed, as you probably inferred, is the scale of discretionary spending impacting the ability to save. That said, there is no denying it's a much bigger mountain to climb now to get into and afford a mortgage.
But I suspect project builders don't help by mainly offering, what would I call it, aspirational housing units rather than affordable ones. Are they upselling or just meeting expectations?
