Tig,
you are jumping very quickly to the nuclear option. No NATO countries (other than UK and France….. and their Ballistic weapons are all Submarine based) would not be deploying Ballistic missle systems within their borders! Surveillance and Radar/Elint stations are another matter, but Russia’s recent actions would suggest that any defensive preparations are highly appropriate.
