Well OK, maybe no ICBMs, but they will be deploying new hypersonic "decapitation" missiles in Germany this Summer, says Ritter, and Russian nuclear doctrine is that any "decapitation" attack on military command structure will be immediately countered by full nuclear response. That means everything nuclear will all be fired off at once, so that is effectively the same response as if you fire nuclear missiles at them. If the US can install these missiles in Germany, which will elicit a full nuclear response from Russia in the event they are fired, well why not install them into a couple of new NATO members, just to test their enthusiasm?
