Crypto did not come from nowhere for a humanitarian reason as you seem to believe. It was started for criminal purposes and was around for quite a while in the original for and used by criminals.

Actually, EVERYTHING is valued by what somebody thinks it is worth. The market price of a product or service is impacted by supply / demand at any particular instance, but the underlying value emerges from what the customer thinks it's worth. The market price is then impacted by the market's consensus.
