ASIC has announced an immediate ban on Short Selling ASX listed shares - see www.asic.gov.au.
This will NOT impact E*TRADE customers wishing to trade equities, Options and Warrants through E*TRADE or any of our Margin Lending providers.
However the ban will impact short CFD trading. You can no longer open new CFD short positions; however you will not be forced to close current open CFD short positions. Sales of long positions will be unaffected. MF Global will cancel all unexecuted short CFD orders prior to market open today.
