Qatar is known for its gas, particularly the North field which lies under the gulf. It’s a super massive accumulation over 1000TCF though I’ve heard some appraisals haven’t worked out. They do some gas to liquids but mostly do LNG.
I’m surprised Germany has done business with Qatar as it’s much like Russia with human rights issues. It’s all still tribal stuff with fists full of USD petro dollars. I don’t think many of the Gulf states even condemned Putin.
