Contrary to popular believe I don't believe housing is a necessity. Food is, water is and some form of shelter is a necessity but a house is not. I guarantee I can go happily sleep in a van, swag, boat or hostel. Additionally, for tens of thousands of years humans survived without houses.
Housing is certainly a highly desired want but it is not a need. It particularly it isn't a need to have a 200 m2 house like the typical house is.
