Well in the real world, it was the Chinese that invented the term of "face".. it is important in there culture. Sure not everyone is the same over there but as a general there do get overly offended.
i can't remember any other countries where the general public has boycotted companies demanding apologies for adds, jokes, or behavior they thought demeaned Chinese people. This has happened multiple times in the last few years alone..
You may not be aware of this but big business is very aware of it now.. Plenty of business studies into it ect.
