I made an enquiry to NAN around this time last year about the suitability and potential applicability of its technology to disinfection of endoscopes, after the CDC had reported a serious spike in levels of infection stemming from inadequate endoscope disinfection.
The reply I received from NAN indicated that the long and bulky endoscopes were unable to fit into the trophon disinfection chamber, which had been designed for disinfection of ultrasound probes.
Interestingly however, the company also advised that in principle, the NAN platform technology has the ability to be applied to endoscope disinfection, with much of the company's early R and D being applied to possible solutions for that market.
Unfortunately, what was not advised in response to my enquiry was the reason(s) for discontinuing that early R and D into application of the NAN technology to endoscope disinfection.
