All service personnel including coppers should be fully armed whilst on duty and whilst going to and from work, off bases etc. if in uniform. No exceptions. If required the government should pay to supply and fit a gun cabinet in each of these people's homes so the weapons can be secured when off duty or asleep, etc.

We need to bring in something along the lines of the Switzerland model. Compulsory national service for 12 months minimum for all people once they reach a set age, and compulsory annual training of all males up to retirement age, for one week.
