I've been watching the positive sentiment around this stock dissipate in recent weeks in the wake of the disappointment of the Indian tripartite deal failing and not a lot of other positive news since. Others posting on HotCopper have said that ECT is in the best shape it has ever been in and (apart from the lack of a cash war-chest) I tend to agree.
While it seems that there is still activity going on in India, I would guess realistically it has to be on a very long string before any new or revised project comes to fruition.
FWIW I therefore think it is positive that our Board have diversified activity and are still looking to add new strings to our corporate bow.
What some posters seem to have lost sight of is that ECT is a penny speculative stock in the tech sector. We all hope for a big multi bag result some day, but as with all speculation we must be prepared to strike out because of that very speculative nature! That is if the potential we see in the stock never develops to the stage ........where the market as a whole can also see the upside we have backed early with our hard earned cash.
So here's why am I still optimistically buying more shares at these levels:
- From where I sit it appears that the top 40 are still pretty firmly in their seats, volumes have been low and nobody appears to be rushing for the exits. There are currently only 67 sellers offering a total of 54,296,250 while 41 buyers with orders totaling 54,296,250. If my math is correct the total of all shares being offered for sale represent just 1.13 percent of the 4,800,516,394 shares on issue;
- There has IMO been a genuine attempt to help long term supporters through ECT Finance;
- A platinum class independent director i.e. David Smith still considers it worth his extremely valuable time to sit on our Board;
- The key management people remain committed and have even been prepared to engage with HotCopper posters on this forum in the past;
- We have a suite of technologies that align well with established needs in the market; and
- We have shown resilience and persistence in grappling with the disappointments and challenges of commercialisation and industrialisation.
For all these reasons I will continue to maintain ECT in my speculative portfolio for the foreseeable future, with a target for a big multi bag return set at 8 to 60 months from now.
