Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province has large graphite deposits, Triton Minerals says

The Balama Norte block, in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, is expected to contain substantial graphite deposits, said the board of directors of Australian company Triton Minerals in a recent statement.

Noting it was satisfied and encouraged by the progress seen in 2013 at the Balama block, the board of directors said it expected prospecting to conclude in 2014 along with definition of existing resources in the region known as Planície das Cobras (Snake Plateau).

The initial mapping and survey programme of Balama Norte began in March 2013 and deposits were found over an area of 3.75 kilometres, in an area known as Monte Nicanda.

A large graphite formation was found in adjacent areas in July, as well as significant amounts of vanadium.
