Dorado project open for public comment
On 20 August 2021, Santos' Dorado Development Offshore Project Proposal was published for public comment.
Santos has provided information about the project, to be located 143 km north of Port Headland, in the project proposal. Santos have indicated the project may commence as early as 2025 with an intended life of 20 years if all required approvals are secured.
NOPSEMA has determined that the project proposal meets the regulatory requirements for it to be published for public comment. NOPSEMA has not yet considered the acceptability of the project and associated environmental impacts.
Once Santos has considered and addressed issues raised through public comment in their proposal, NOPSEMA can begin its assessment of the proposal’s acceptability against the requirements of the Environment Regulations.
If the proposal meets all of the regulatory requirements and is accepted by NOPSEMA, further regulatory approvals from NOPSEMA will be required including environment plans, safety cases, and well operations management plans before any activities can commence.
Interested stakeholders are encouraged to provide comment on the proposal by 29 October 2021.
NOPSEMA assesses proposals on their merits against the requirements of the regulatory framework.
