Image, for example.
If any one of the CEOs or chairmen of an ASX100 company, or indeed any public figure
made the Anzac comment that yasmin abdul magie made.
There would be demands from everyone for that person to be removed from their position.
And who would probably be the loudest in making these demands?
It would no doubt be the ABC.
Followed closely by the Fairfax press and the ALP...but I repeat myself.
The arguement that she was not "acting in her capacity as an ABC employee"
is a nonsense.
In this day and age a public figure ( and she is a public figure,..as the Muslim poster girl on the ABC )
cannot put up comments on social media and somehow,
this is "not related" to their other public engagements.
As an ABC journalist / presenter she is given a public forum to air her views and comments.
She demonstrated by her thinking that she is entirely unsuitable to have such a position.
Her "apology" ......too little too late.
She should be removed from her position.
The public would demand that ANYONE else who behaved in this manner, would be
removed from their position.
Double standard?
You betcha.
