The roulette ball has no memory of and is not influenced by
what happened in the past so the chances of it coming
up red next time is 50% and black 50%. Both may be slightly less. I can't remember whether 0 and double 0
have a colour. These two numbers are there to ensure that
the odds are slightly in favour of the house and that in the longer term, at least, the house is always going to make money.
