It's the author of the story, apparently he/she is a member of leftist websites etc..
The problem stems from when these leftists get in positions of social influence, in charge of writing stories for papers and letting the poor, vulnerable members of the community post such misguided comments afterwards.
Even worse when they become politicians - Kevin Hogan for example!
