Nylex Industrial Products Executive General Manager, Mark Stevens, assured the Wellington community today that its Sale factory will remain open and in operation for the medium term.

The company would like to express appreciation for all the assistance and input received from Wellington Shire Council, Federal Member for Gippsland, Peter McGauran and State Member for Gippsland South, Peter Ryan, who have been actively campaigning for retention and expansion of the Sale facility on behalf of the local community.

In terms of the potential to build a new greenfield facility in Sale - Mr Stevens said that while this remained a potential location to expand its operations, as an alternative to moving to China, any final decision requires greater certainty around a number of key, influential variables.

These include:

„X Ability to recover costs driven by escalating oil prices that have caused an increase in raw material pricing of 15% in the last 4 months.

„X Outcome of recently implemented marketing initiatives aimed at underwriting the long term revenue base of this business unit.
