It is said that a major bank going bust ends the bear market - Citibank looked nervy for awhile, then Deutsche they still do in fact, but like you I reckon JPM's well advertised derivative possie looks ominous.
Gold needs inflation, I think - I read somewhere that gold is more correlated to inflation than the USD even though gold is influenced by both.. Don't quote me though, but I think I read that from Dr Doom via the Doom and Gloom report. A good laugh.
