Maybe they're doing the best they can, ie preventing any more major financial institutions collapsing & providing liquidity/stimulation.
This shock must see a change in the US consumers' borrowing habits & financial market regulation. Even a weaning off oil.
Time is a great healer.
Let the housing market bottom, consumer confidence return slowly & be ready with interest rate rises to keep a lid on things before a repeat is allowed to occur...
