Although various earnings are noted as being up, it is the general mix of the whole economy that needs looking at. I was reading of the UK economy and surprised that 5% was manufacturing, 5% financial and the rest was services. The figures may be askew but it points to the fact that if the best figures may be in low profit areas and will not mean much. With huge consumer take up China is doing well to the detriment of countries that have moved out of manufacturing. We need to see the money move from manufacturing and consumer goods to areas of the US economy that will benefit the US. It could be that there aren't any areas left to boost the US and too much has gone offshore.
