0955 [Dow Jones] Looks like if UK's WPP (WPP.LN) is bidding for STW Communications (SGN.AU), as Australian newspaper reports, it will be a hostile bid, with SGN Chairman Russell Tate telling Dow Jones Newswires that he has had no discussions with WPP on any bid or it increasing its stake. While Tate's comments don't mean a bid won't come, a hostile bid seems strange given the long-standing strategic relationship between the two in Australia and NZ. WPP increased its stake in SGN to 19.5% earlier this month, Australian newspaper says WPP could bid as soon as today. London-based WPP not immediately available. SGN shares last traded at A$2.50.
