Well I decided to buy in today. I'm glad that the ACCC are policing life insurers properly, but I can't see that this will be a huge expense. There will be some minor reputational damage possibly, but most of that is done already from the issue being discussed in the media. And who knows what the end decision will be.
There has been quite a lot of volume today - the buyers have been happy to meet the sellers after this loud BOO, and the recent pummeling since that downgrade and bad quarterly set of metrics. I suspect that the market will decide this was an OK buying opp tomorrow. I plan to hold for a few days unless something in the action tells me to get out.
Does anybody more knowledgeable than I have any feel for the likely total costs on a reasonable worst case? $5m perhaps?
