I was mowing down among the gum trees yesterday and when I stopped at one point and took the ear protectors off, I was absolutely gobsmacked and deafened by the volume of sound coming from the cicadas. You don't tend to hear then around the house or maybe I'm just deaf. No maybe about that, years of standing in front of amplifiers did that I'm sure. They must be in mass proportions this year and I sure hope they are not going to wipe out a lot of grower's crops. But the good news is......I remember when I was a kid the prized catch among the cicadas was what we then called the Black Prince Well, 70 years later and I think I caught and released one this morning. I was picking some of the last of the citrus fruit and I saw one scrambling about on the ground. So I picked him up and sat him on a tree branch. Wait long enough and all your wishes come around.
