They are definitely not Mum n Dad investors. They're professionals who pay a set amount each year to make a set amount of buy/sell transactions. This also allows them to purchase less than $500 in one go. And one of their aims is to manipulate the share price and buy/sell depth so chartists (and folk like you and me) potentially get confused and buy/sell.

Which is why if you're invested in the longer term (i.e., 3 months +) you should only take not of the share price if there's substantial volume. If PRR falls but only $15,000 has been traded that day, just ignore it. But if millions of dollars has changed hands then start to take notice. At least that's how I do.

Which reminds me of some advice I received a while back: a slowly dropping share price on very low volume can mean good things. Of course, 'can' should be emphasized.

Anybody else have a take on that little bit of advice?
