Just before BHP made the announcement to end its offer for RIO I made the call on the monday that BHP would throw a bomb into the picture. I said it would happen on the thursday but it happened on tuesday. It's there for all to see. BHP's balance sheet and debt to equity ratio is too strong whereas RIO's is on the brink. What would happen to any of us if our housing loan was worth three times more than the value of our house? And there were no buyers for our house? Unfortunately, RIO has been caught out BIG TIME.
