The PLN makes substantial losses in most years as the aim is to provide cheap subsidied power...A few years back the annual losses were over 3 Billion USD for the year in which the gov had to top up.
If you start googling Indonesian press clippings over any period you will find certain political forces calling for its breakup ... This could just certain special interests trying to get their hands on cheap assets or unlock their assets that are under a socialist yoke not realising full potential.
this sort of thing is part of Indonesian politics ....fuel , rice, cooking oil ect are all heavily socialised and subsidised.... No one makes money out of the PLN ...This so-called upcoming deal with the PLN is meaningless as the gas will be given away...If we are not allowed to export the bulk of gas as LNG on the spot market as per the original business plan floated by Elliot then the show is over.
