Pharmaceutical grade glycerine, according to NFL, is selling for up to US$1,800 in South East Asia.
12,250 mta at Darwin, 50% owned with BEI (currently under a takeover offer from BNB)
60,000 mta at Singapore, 100% owned by NFL
Costs? Two main input costs are crude glycerine and methanol. Methanol is around US$500/t, no idea on cost of crude glycerine.
Demand for pharmaceutical grade glycerine is large as it is used in a vast number of products (ie paint, additive in foods, etc), Australia for instance is a net importer, the last I read was that production capacity in Australia was under 9 mta, excluding NFL's Darwin plant. It is an alternative to mineral oil products hence the high crude oil price is a driver to demand for pharmaceutical grade glycerine.
