My explanation is that it's on special now and worth a buy for the days ahead when ... it's no longer on special :)
I have been accumulating a levels around $3 for some time. Happy holder, a dividend yield of near enough to 10% - a healthy options market for covered calls... I expect 10% - 20% income from Telstra (via divs and call options) and over time, I also expect a 20% or greater capital gain.
I rarely find better.
