Yes Mongo and then return them to their rightful owners under "cross trades" or "portfolio marriages" or 100s of other "whatever the reason but" transactions that never get entered into market depth. A total sham. the regulators only seem to regulate a small percentage of the trades. The biggest joke was that the big international players were able to sell something they didn't have and pay the paltry regulators fine, rather than conform to regulations. Stuff the poor blighters who fronted with real cash. ASX we love you.
