    =============================================================
    The MM's have the market trends as their stock in trade,when all seems lost, they'll put the boot in and cause more to sell. I have been trading/investing in shares for donkey's years and have learned to understand the MM's methods and motives.
    The truth is they are neither your friend or your enemy, just that they see profit opportunities and they never miss a trick. By their own standards, they expect traders to profit as well and if you play into their hands...then they view this as a weakness. The Market Maker sets the trend for all to profit, the problem we have is understanding the markets and reversal of trends can come with just one bullish newspaper headline only to be followed by another downturn before uncertainty creeps in again with investors undecided! HOLD, BUY or SELL? that is the question!
    Only the MM's know which way they want the trend to go, they decide. Good news on an individual stock even when most other stocks are dropping can induce the MM's to let the share rip. How big the spike is will then depend on overall investor sentiment. IF a major discovery is announced the MM's may decide to 'go with the flow', making profits for themselves as previous sellers have literally made them buckets of cash. When the spike is over, the MM's will take full advantage again as profit taking begins....and if pi's are still buying, then the MM's simply fix a higher price...they'll win whether the goes UP or DOWN. It is a bit like playing cards with two winning hands, you might win with your first hand, but they'll get you in the end.
    The best way for pi's is to remember, that the MM's will always let shares go up then down, unless the stock is tanking from bad news, or rising on very good news....play their game, and if you are a big holder in a stock and are drip feeding the shares back into the market...they will know! And they may test your nerves....best way to offload a large holding is to be healthily into profit and sell the whole lot or half as the shares are rising, they'll offer you slightly better sp than if the stock was dropping as they want your shares to profit from the 'mugs'....but try the same tactic when the stock is falling then what they offer you will be tantamount to robbery.
    This is how tree shaking makes them much more, scaring investors when the stock is falling, giving the feeling that 'if you don't sell now', then tomorrow they will be down another 20-30%...so causing pi's to lose out, yet feeling peeved but safe (could have lost the lot?)...only to find they have you duped, because now you have offloaded, they start rising again!
    Follow the MM's, buy low, sell high...buy high and you'll wait (not long enough?) to get out through your own lack of patience, only to lose again.
