Thanks slashj. Setting aside differences in brokerage, interest and fees, I am trying to work out the difference between:
a) Selling half my holding and buying back after the announcement OR
b) Selling an equivalent number of CFDs and closing them out after the announcement
As far as I can tell the net effect should be the same. The only advantage of b) is that I don't trigger a capital gains tax event on my share holding
